Beyoncé is a global phenomenon, one of the most iconic and newsworthy figures in contemporary popular entertainment in her multiple roles as a singer, songwriter, record producer and actress.  In the words of Jody Rosen, The New Yorker’s music critic “he most important and compelling popular musician of the 21st century.”

She was born as Beyoncé Giselle Knowles in Houston, Texas on 4 September, 1981. The group was however bedevilled with splits and disagreements and it was as a result of all the distractions that Beyonce was able to work on and release her first solo album Dangerously in Love established her as a solo artist worldwide, picking up five Grammy Awards and including two No 1 hits "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy".

Her second solo album in 2006 came after the final breakup of Destiny’s Child and contained three no 1 hits in  "Déjà Vu", "Irreplaceable", and "Beautiful Liar". A new chapter then opened up in her career when she became an actress with her performance in Dream Girls winning her a Golden Globes nomination. She was to follow this up with three other film parts The Pink Panther, Obsessed and Cadillac Records.

Much more was to follow in the next ten years: marriage to rapper Jay Z, several new albums including 4, Beyonce and the latest Lemonade released in 2016. In  2011 the long business relationship with her father came to an end Matthew had been the controlling influence in her career since her early auditions as a teenager.  Beyoncé insised that this was a purely business decision, unrelated to her parents’ divorce.

To sum up her glittering career – over 100 million solo records have been sold not to mention 60 million as a member of Destiny’s Child – making her an all time best seller!  20 Grammy Awards have come her way making her the top female artist in terms of nominations. Among her other prizes list Billboard’s Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, Top Female Artist of the 2000s, Time magazine put her among the 100 most influential people in the world and Forbes placed her as the most powerful female in entertainment of 2015.

Earlier in 2016, she joined Coldplay and Bruno Mars in a memorable half time slot at the Superbowl. She is in demand wherever in the world she is playing and any opportunity to catch a live performance should not be missed.
