대해서 헤타페 CF
Getafe CF is not the first in line of football clubs in
Madrid. God forbid, this title is, and forever will be, in possession of the
King's Team – the mighty Real Madrid. Getafe CF is also not the second in line
of football clubs in Madrid, this title goes with honors to Atletico Madrid,
for the sake of a La Liga title, some UEFA Champions League Final appearances,
a budget that exceeds 100 million Euros and a home stadium with a capacity of
almost 70,000 seats.
A case can be made that Getafe CF is not even third in line
of football clubs in Madrid and that this title may belongs to Rayo Vallecano, the city rivals from the neighborhood
of Vallecas. For the sake of the argument, both clubs were established in the
same year of 1924, both clubs play in smaller than 20,000 seat stadiums, both
have never gotten even close to winning the La Liga and both have spent
considerable time in the second division, and even lower. On the other hand, Getafe
has reached the final of the Spanish Cup on two occasions. Case closed – Getafe
CF is the third biggest football club in the city of Madrid.
Getafe Club de Futbol from the neighborhood of Getafe in
Madrid was formed in 1924 and played only lower division and local teams. Only
after the Spanish Civil War ended in 1946, the club was re-established by
neighborhood residents. Financial difficulties struck and at the end of the
1981-82 season, the club ceased to exist. On 1983, the club merged with a club
formed by local supporters and activities continued ever since.
Getafe was first promoted to the first division before the
2004-05 season and it played there 12 consecutive seasons, before being
relegated to the second division for one season.
The club's proudest moments occurred in the2006-07 and
2007-08 seasons, when it reached the final of the Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey).
In 2006-07 it lost 0-1 to Sevilla, but the big story actually occurred in the
semi-finals. Getafe lost the first leg 2-5 to Barcelona, only to come back and
win 4-0 in the second leg. In the 2007-08 final, Getafe lost 1-3 to Valencia.
During the same season, Getafe also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup,
before losing to Bayern Munich. It's highest ever ranking in the first division
was 6th in the 2009-10 season.
Getafe plays its home games in 17,393 seat Coliseum Alfonso
Perez stadium. The club's most famous academy graduate is Alvero Morata, who
moved to Real Madrid's academy at an early age. The all-time caps leader is
Argentinian Cata Diaz, who made 237 appearances for the club. The leading goal
scorer is Manu del Moral with 39 goals in 191 appearances.
