대해서 SC 브라가
It’s not easy to play in the same division with some elite teams, knowing that your chances of success and glory are limited at best, almost non-existed in reality. If you look at the champions of the last 30 years of Portugal’s Primeira Liga, only once did a team outside the country’s big three of Porto, Benfica Lisbon and Sporting CP won the title, and that was Boavista F.C. So what’s left for teams like Braga?
Braga – or Sporting Clube de Braga as its full name – was founded in 1921. The club has reached Portugal’s upper division for the first time before the 1947-48 season, and other than 9 seasons (on three different terms), has been there ever since. Throughout the years, Braga has finished second in the upper division once, third twice and came up fourth nine times.
Through the years, Braga has developed some outstanding talents, that either grew in its youth ranks, or has arrived in the northern city at an early age, before being sold for a hefty profit to bigger clubs. Among them were Brazilian striker Diego Costa, that was sold in 2007 to Atletico Madrid for 1.5 million Euro Pizzi, who has transferred to Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a loan fee of 1.5 million Euro and was sold a year later for 13.5 million Euro Midfielder Rafa Silva was sold in 2016 to Benfica for 15 million Euro Goalkeeper Beto was sold in 2013 to Sevilla for 2 million Euro and midfielder Tiago was sold in 2001 to Benfica for 2.5 million Euro and later in his career played for Chelsea, Olympic Lyon, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
Braga has known some success in European competition. It is the only Portugal side to has ever won UEFA’s Intertoto Cup 2008 after a double win over Turkey side Sivasspor. In 2011, the club was a runner-up in UEFA Europa League final, having lost 1-0 to powerhouse Porto. In addition, it has twice reached the group stage of UEFA Champions League.
Braga’s main rival in Portugal is Vitória de Guimaraes. The distance between the two cities, both in the northern part of the country, is only 25 km and the matches between them has turned over the years into a fierce derby, that dates back to old times and fans of the two camps wait for eagerly.
S.C. Braga has won the Portugal Cup (Taca de Portugal) twice, in 1965-66 and 2015-16 and has also won the league cup (Taka da Liga) once, in 2012-13.
Braga play its home matches in 30,286-seat Estádio Municipal de Braga. The stadium was built in 2003 for the 2004 UEFA European Championship.
